2012 is Coaster Theatre's 40th Anniversary , and we welcome you to an exciting season of plays, musicals and special events. In February the curtain rises on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Gin Game, 35 years after its Broadway opening. This story of a relationship, mixed with comic irascibility and bracing shots of drama, asks the question: can a friendship win out when it's so often on the rocks? Next, in honor of the 40th anniversary of its opening on Broadway, we present Alan Ayckbourn's How the Other Half Loves. In this laugh-out-loud tour de force time and space are brilliantly re-configured, earning it the sobriquet: "a thinking man's comedy". Our end-of-spring show arrives 40 years after the release of its Academy Award-winning film version. Just in time for Mother's Day we bring you Butterflies are Free, a play in which a "loving" mother shows herself to be a true force of nature. We end our 2012 season with a beloved friend, Charles Dickens, born 200 years ago in 1812. This year's very tradional version of A Christmas Carol re-awakens Ebenezer Scrooge to lead us into our next 40 years of live theatre on the Oregon coast. Craig Shepherd
